He had planned for us to spend the evening watching the sunset at Sand Key Park. As we approached the main entrance, he seemed overly concerned that the park was already closed. As we began the drive to Clearwater Beach, he looked back longingly at the beach where we were supposed to be. I wondered what the big deal was...I would find out later why it was such a big deal. So, we continued to drive to Clearwater Beach. As we got closer, we found that it was extremely busy, being that it was the day after Thanksgiving...locating a spot to park was proving to be a challenge. I proceeded to tell him, "It's okay...we can come back some other day." However, he was bound and determined to find a spot, and so he did.
As we walked down to the beach, we located two public beach chairs and proceeded to get ready to watch the sun set. As the evening went on, the sun dipped behind the ocean, it began to get dark. And we stayed...after the public beach chairs were collected...we stayed. We walked down with our beach blanket to a remote area of the beach...and it hit me...I was hungry. "How much longer are we staying?" was my question. "We'll be leaving soon." was the answer. So, I took a granola bar out of my purse and began to eat my snack. As my sugar began to level back out, I heard "Are you almost done with that?" As soon as I finished my snack, I found out why we had stayed so long at the beach. There he was, on one knee asking me to marry him. The tears overshadowed the fact that it was well past my dinner time...and I said "Yes!"
